In September 2007 we were able to find a reliable partner organisation in Addis Abeba. We are especially grateful to the Gesellschaft für technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) (www.gtz.de) and the Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst (DED) (www.ded.de), which helped us find New Life community.
New Life Community

The „New Life Community“was founded in 1994 by the Ethiopian couple Genet Loulseged und Mezmur Shiferaf. They returned from 20 years of exil in Norway to initiate a success story in their home country. Besides acting as a partner organisation for PROJECT-E, New life community has build up an impressive array of educational projects. Currently 3000 disadvantaged students are being educated. They also set up two small clinics and a nursing home for the elderly – a particular novelty in Ethiopia.
Our partner organization is mainly financed through the Norwegian state and also receives donations from Norwegian private donors. In 2007 the “New life community” was able to secure additional funding from the German Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau (KfW) (www.kfw.de).
Tasks of New Life Community
New Life Community’s tasks in relation to PROJECT-E are twofold. Firstly, they will be responsible to carry out the educational program of PROJECT-E. For this reason PROJECT-E will be integrated in to the educational programs of “New Life Community”, while at the same time maintaining its high quality educational standards. “New Life Community” will help us with selecting suitable teachers, personnel and most importantly students. Secondly, our partner organization will look for local families in which the girls can life.
Advantages of our partnership with “New Life Community”
The advantages of our co-operation between “New Life Community” and PROJECT-E are manifold. We were able secure a plot of land, free of cost, to build our executive secretary school. Moreover, our Ethiopian partner, being experienced in the field of Ethiopian education, has a clear understanding of how the daily education has to be coordinated and monitored. Another advantage worth mentioning is the close working relation “New Life Community” has established with the local and state administration. Especially in Ethiopia this is a vital prerequisite for the success of any project.
